Welcome to this week's edition of the SHS Weekly Highlights! We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged. You will find information and important dates for the week of Jan. 5 to 9, 2026. Students: welcome back to school on Jan. 6!
Please be reminded of several upcoming things with the start of the new semester:
We want all students and families to be reminded of the Sevier County School System dress code policy, as it has not changed regarding students' dress (bare shoulders, shorts, holes in jeans, bare backs or midriffs), hair color, piercings, or backpacks (just to name a few). Please be mindful of the following: Students are still to carry mesh or clear backpacks. Students should place any solid bag or band instrument in the in their respective locations. Any "large purse or tote bag" containing textbooks or chromebooks is considered a bookbag and is not permitted. Consequences for continuous violations will be handed down. Students must revert any unnatural hair color back to a natural hair color ASAP. Any student with facial piercings must use a clear spacers for the piercings--no facial jewelry is permitted. Students will be placed in ISS beginning TOMORROW, Jan. 6 for any dress code violations.
Cell phones and electronic devices: students are reminded that all cell phones and other wireless electronic devices (other than the school issued chromebooks) are prohibited during instructional hours. This includes the use of ear buds, smart watches, personal laptops and tablets, and old chromebooks that have been removed from the system.
Students are only allowed to enter the school building at acceptable entry points: main doors at the front lobby (all day) and the 300 wing entrance during morning bus duty. The doors at the Ag Hallway (between the junior high and the high school) are to only be used by freshmen students who are being escorted by a teacher (during morning bus duty) and between class changes when administration is in that hall. No other student is to use any other entry/exit point. When students arrive on campus, they are to come into the building immediately. Students are not permitted to sit in their vehicles after arriving on campus.
Students who park on the school campus must purchase a parking tag from Mrs. Maples in the front office. Parking passes are $20 and the required form must be filled out by the student and the parent. Forms are available in the front office. Remember, this is a requirement if you drive to school.
