School Safety Letter: Evolv System for new school year

Parents,

We are excited to announce a new security measure at our school called Evolv.  Evolv is a safe, non-invasive system that uses sensors and AI analysis to detect prohibited items on persons entering our school building, informing school officials and SROs so they can quickly intervene.  This process occurs quickly, discreetly, and with little interruption to entering foot traffic as students, staff, parents, and visitors enter the school building.

We ask that you bear with us as we train students and staff on proper procedures for this equipment to reduce false alerts and streamline flow.  If you have been to Dollywood, Thompson-Boling Arena, or Neyland Stadium in the last couple of years, you have already seen and experienced the Evolv system in action.  We believe this demonstrates the potential for Evolv to be an efficient and trustworthy tool.  We are hopeful that employing Evolv at our school will help us provide a safer environment for our students while offering you as parents some additional peace of mind.  Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Greg Haggard

Principal, Seymour High School

Sevier County Schools: Press release regarding Friday, Dec. 5

December 2, 2025:

The Sevier County School System wishes to congratulate the football programs at Sevier County High School and Gatlinburg-Pittman High School on their respective performances this season, earning both a shot at the state title this Friday! This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and perseverance displayed by each player and coach throughout the season. Their commitment to excellence—on and off the field—has made our entire school system and our county proud.

In order to allow as many students and families as possible to travel to Chattanooga to support our teams, we are amending the school schedule to exchange an administrative day from May 28th for this Friday, December 5.  This means that there will be no school for students on Friday, with them instead attending on May 28th to make up the instructional day. This change will also ease logistical difficulties that may arise from a lack of staff present, substitutes and bus drivers available, and other arrangements associated with travel within the two high schools and their feeder schools. Two county teams playing for the state championship is truly a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence that we would love for families to be able to experience.

Further, we invite you to help us celebrate the hard work determination, and athletic excellence these teams have shown by sending these teams off to the championship with the following gatherings:

● Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Football Players and Coaches will have a School Send-off on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 8:15 AM on the GPHS campus. Families, students, and community members are invited to attend and cheer on the team as they depart for the championship.

● Sevier County High School Football Players and Coaches will have a School Send-off on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 12:30 PM on the SCHS campus. Families, students, and community members are invited to attend and cheer on the team as they depart for the championship.

For those who wish to travel to Chattanooga to cheer our teams in in person, we’d also like to share the following information regarding event specifics:

● Important: A portion of ticket sales will go back to the school selected at checkout. Please be sure to choose your school when purchasing tickets to ensure your support directly benefits your team.

We are very excited to announce that Coach Lindsey Koeneman has been named the head coach for the SHS Lady Eagles basketball team. Coach K brings a life of basketball success: three-time all-conference at Volunteer High School, four-year collegiate starter at Concord University, and assistant coach to the Lady Eagles basketball program in recent years. Her enthusiasm and knowledge have prepared her for this new role, and we are very excited for the future! Go Eagles!
